지歷史회복지실천과정은 각 지역복지실천모델의 특징과 지歷史회의 맥락 및 상황에 따라 그 구성이 다소 다를 수 있다 그럼에도 불구하고 지歷史회복지실천과정은 일반화할 수 있는 공통 요소들을 갖는다. 하지만 학자들마다 이러한 일반화될 수 있는 실천과정을 다소 상이하게 분류하여 설명(說明)하고 있다 미국의 지歷史회조직에 관한 모델은 사회경제적인 환경의 변화에 따라 다양하고 세분화되어 가는 경향을 보이고 있다 Rothman은 복잡한 지歷史회조직 사업의 분야를 1967년에 지歷史회개발, 사회계획, 사회행동이라는 세 가지 모델로 분류했는데, 1987년과 1995년에 걸쳐 다시 개정하였다. 따라서 본론에서는 영국과 미국의 지歷史회복지 실천 모델을 비교해 보겠다.
